Totally outplayed

Rosaneri were totally outplayed by a strong Fives team on a pitch that was a bowlers dream.

Rosaneri batted first and Mr Bell got things off to a flying start for the away fans by slapping a brace of good early fours. But Big Mike never got settled and Coxy followed soon afterwards as the good start evaporated.

Bloater then set about the attack in his usual fashion and all looked well again with 50 on the board and only two wickets down.

However, a massive collapse left Rosaneri rocking at 70 odd for 8. As luck would have it though, Sinders was in the mood to bat properly and he set about defending balls on the stumps and whacking anything where he had width.

Mat dropped anchor and batted with pride and determination to see off the best bowler we have faced in years on a beast of a pitch. The one hiccup was when he was struck on the chin from a lifter off a length. Like the pro he is though, he dusted himself down, called for the helmet and simply carried on.

A top partnership and an unbeaten 41 from Sinders helped Rosaneri to a total that had the tea time chat being all about being able to win.

8 overs into the Fives innings though saw Rosaneri merely looking for pride rather than victory. Sinders did make an early breakthrough, but we gave away far too many extras and didn’t follow it up with more wickets quickly enough.

Nick salvaged the pride by bowling well and taking 3 scalps, but pride was as good as it got and a comfortable victory was wrapped up for the home team with 15+ overs to spare.

This was poor in terms of our recent form and we must look to bounce back next week against North Weald.
