Player notebooks

Tyrrell – Took a massive blow to the arm in the second over and had to sit out 19 overs. Put the gloves back on after drinks and picked up a razor sharp stumping. Batted with maximum confidence and played some destructive shots before departing a little too early for Rosaneri fans.

Cully – Acted as emergency wicket keeper during Mr Bell’s absence as made everything look ridiculously simple. Also fielded superbly when back in the covers and made the oppo think twice about running anything within 10 metres of him. Got a start with the bat and was disappointed to be out when he was.

M.Cox – Fielded with bundles of enthusiasm as usual and saved numerous runs. His day ended in tears though when he had his dinner money stolen in the big boys playground by the local bully, as he was bowled when not even looking.

A.Underwood – Took two nice catches and ran a tight ship while captaining in the field. Batted superbly and his 3 successive fours from Berry’s first 3 balls was a joy to behold. Looked all set for a big score until he was undone by the wily old spinner.

Sparrey – Batted with quality and control and built a match winning platform in a partnership with Andy, but disaster struck when stumped literally minutes after the big man had departed.

Downing – Thrown the ball for the death overs and used all his experience to return a super spell that limited runs and claimed wickets. However, while batting things were not so successful and looked like a fish out of water when quick runs were needed.

S.Underwood – Bowled his robot like run limiting super stuff and picked up another brace of wickets. Fielded whole heartedly and tried to get on with it when batting but holed out before getting enough runs.

Rose – Put under amazing pressure when coming on cold to bowl four of the most crucial overs in the club’s history. Did very well under the circumstances and only suffered figures wise due to a small leg side boundary. His batting was the real talking point though and Marcus blasted his way to a personal best just when his team needed it. Some great shots and a bucket load of fighting spirit.

N.Shewring – Not at his absolute best when bowling, but still created chances and did pick up yet another brace. However, he could have won the game for us when he drew a false shot from Sandford early on in his innings, but the ball fell safely just out of reach of a fielder.

Ma.Freeman – Bowled to his usual high standard and returned miserly figures as well as making a crucial breakthrough. Had a great time in the field and pouched a great diving effort when the pinks really needed it. Batted with pride and notched useful runs in a last ditch attempt. The big six into the pavilion off their best bowler will live in the memory for a long time.

Sindrey – Bowled nicely in two spells and limited the run count at his hard to get away best. Waved the bat in a polite cameo at the end and went back into the hutch with a nice little not out for the average.
