Keep off my pitch

Sunday’s result: The weather 1-0 Rosaneri.

Or was it ?

It may have been more the case that we were the victims of a professional groundsman.

The rain had finished for the day, the sun was out and the wind was blowing. Perfect drying conditions and things were improving with every second that passed. The opposition were desperate to play and we were desperate to play. However the groundsman would not have it.

But protective professional groundsmen are the reason that we all strive to play at arenas like the Paulin Ground in Winchmore Hill.

It was a blow, but we will recover and hopefully our day will come at the Paulin Ground.

Most players only found out that the game was off after arriving at the ground, but as a squad I think we would always rather give the pitch every chance in the hope of a game than have an early cancellation. Many squad members will remember the pain and disbelief of trigger happy cancellations against Walthamstow in 2007 and North Enfield in 2008.
