Player notebooks

Tyrrell – A poor shot chasing a wide ended his innings way too early. But kept well with highlight being a sharp catch off Nick.

McHugh – Another who played a poor shot and literally gave his wicket away. Fielded with real enthusiasm and saved numerous runs for Nick in a crucial position that required a strong arm.

Alfieri – Do not underestimate this innings from Tony. He came in when the ship was rocking at 2 for 2 and got his head down to steady things before supporting Andy in building a club record 3rd wicket partnership.

A.Underwood – Escaped a first ball scare to go on and bat like he was in a fairy tale. Bludgeoned anything shot of a length and even managed a text book cover drive early in proceedings. Andy cashed in on any gifts, but also took apart regular Ware 1st team bowlers. This was an innings he will always remember. Please take a bow, the new King of Hertfordshire.

M.Cox – Looked very comfortable at the crease until he fell victim to a pre determined whoosh when there was no need. Fielded with his usual vigour and even managed a polite over.

Downing – Played a real Boycott like innings and supported Andy with the minimum of fuss in a club record 5th wicket stand of 121. A good innings on a normal day, but very much an innings in the shadows on a special day such as this.

Rose – Bowled nicely and took a vital wicket as he has the habit of doing. Bravely stood his ground in the face of an advancing and calling Mr Bell to pouch a catch that in the end assured a pink victory. If that had of been spilled, the game could have changed very quickly.

Ma. Freeman – Bowled a straight 8 and kept the lid on runs, but knows he can step up on this. May have been feeling the effects of his tough spell the week before.

N.Shewring – Can almost produce wickets to order now for a skipper and again produced a lovely 3 fer. 9 wickets in 3 games speaks for itself and Nick is truly having a season to remember.

Sindrey – Bowled a very nice line and length and thoroughly deserved his brace of wickets. The caught and bowled was particularly special.

Shuttlewood – Pits did it again and broke the opening partnership. He then went on to bowl even better from the other end in a second spell and claimed 3 wickets that could easily have been 4. The P.I.T is on fire at the moment and he even had a hat-trick opportunity in this game.
