The long awaited Tendring trip

Good morning sports fans and welcome to the 2nd game of 2009.

Last week was a super start to the season and it is hoped that we can build on that with another positive result in Essex.

The Tendring game is always eagerly awaited, not only because of the lovely ground, but also because of the pre match banter in The Cherry Tree Public House.

We managed to win the corresponding fixture last year after getting off to a slow but steady start in a 40 over clash. But a brilliant debut innings from Adam Jones saved the day and the pinks posted a defendable total. The bowlers bowled well and victory was secured.

You can never be assured of what strength of team any opposition will have out, but this year Tendring are preparing for League cricket so they could have a few more street wise pros playing. In the past two years the Tendring 2nd XI have only played friendly cricket similar to ourselves.

Rosaneri name yet another strong team, with the emphasis just favouring batting strength. The exact format of the game will be decided by the captains during the toss.

Word is that Michael “Gravy” Levett travels, which means that a more comprehensive than usual text update service will be available for regular subscribers.

Our brunch appointment is from 11.30am, and the game will get underway from 1pm.
