As of 9pm last night we were still waiting on two contracted players to officially confirm their availability for the first game of the season on Sunday. 

We had hoped to have named the team on Monday, but it is now looking that it will not be named until Wednesday lunchtime. This is not a problem as such, as Wednesday was always the intended day to name the weekend’s team throughout the whole season. However, for the first game of the season I had expected to get things nailed nice and early. 

This uncertainty is a bad thing as the non contract players are left dangling and not knowing what they are doing on Sunday yet. The other problem is that the Captain (still to be named) is losing time in sorting out his battle plans. 

I apologise if you think I am banging on about this, but I cannot reinforce the message enough about being fair to the ad hoc guys. We simply cannot keep people hanging on to the last minute. 

Contact and communication is very important to the running of the club, so let’s hope that this sluggish start to the season does not continue.
