Closing in on the summer

Six months of waiting is almost over as we edge ever so close to the start of the 2009 season.

Friday night was a brilliant night of curry and banter in Winchmore Hill with 16 players and supporters indulging from start to finish. The betting went into overdrive with the Club Bookmaker presenting some superb novelty markets which certainly stimulated some lively debate.

Talk is cheap though and it is time for a few who had strong opinions about their ability to show that they can actually do it when the curtains go up on the 2009 season.

On the team news front we have two injuries to report. Mark Cox has sustained knee ligament damage while playing football and snow boarding and now looks certain to miss the early part of the season.

We have also suffered a blow with Kiwi Graham snapping his achilles while playing indoor 5 a side. The early medical assessment is suggesting 3 to 4 months before he will be back on the pitch.

As previously mentioned availability will be totally through the forum this year. But if people cannot get onto the forum for any reason it is more than acceptable for someone else to post availability on their behalf.

With the anticipation building for the first game the availability threads on the forum will appear shortly. The team will normally be named by Wednesday lunchtime, but for the first game of the season it is hoped that we will be able to name it by Monday of next week.
