The bowling as a whole in 2008 was significantly better than the previous season. At last we seemed to bowl like a team and the amount of opposition wickets went up drastically. So much so, we actually started bowling teams out with at times something to spare.
Here is the list of the leading wicket takers:

Nick finished top of the pile with a brilliant 20 wickets over the course of the season. This is a real poke in the eye for the Captains who thought along the same lines as Duncan Fletcher and had little time for spin in their attack. Nick has certainly proved that flight and guile can still take wickets.
The next two down the list are both Ad Hoc’s and to return 18 and 17 wickets is a remarkable achievement. Both Gareth and Stephen returned their first 5 fers for the club this year and took 35 wickets between them. Stephen in particular should take a bow as it only took him 8 games to grab his 17 wickets.
The surprising finishing position was that of Paul Sindrey. He bowled beautifully throughout the season, but just didn’t seem to pick up the number of wickets he deserved. Mat Freeman always falls into this category so maybe it is to be expected of the fastest club bowlers.
Marcus also deserves a mention for chipping in with 10 valuable wickets even though he has been fighting radar problems on and off throughout the campaign.
As an attack we took 130 wickets in 20 matches, and that is not including run outs.
We bowled 740.1 overs, 88 of which were maidens.
Well done guys, this was a great effort. If the progress shown so far continues we will be a very competitive team for 2009.
