Lots of good work

Mi.Freeman – This man literally lives, breathes and sleeps Rosaneri cricket and on Sunday he demonstrated that he is an ideal candidate to fill one of the opening batsmen slots. Mike batted with control and craft to work a crucial 25 that propelled Rosaneri to within touching distance of victory. Eventually done by the dreaded double bouncer.

Tona – Fielded well and nearly clung on to what would have been a spectacular diving catch. Snicked one to the keeper to record his first ever duck.

Hooper – Bowled superbly and only didn’t get a second spell as he was being held back for the death overs that didn’t have to be bowled in the end. The batting was a disappointment as he was capable of knocking all of the 110 required himself.

A.Underwood – Had to pop on the wicket keeping gloves due to Bells injury and made spectacular stops as well as taking a sharp stumping. Batted very well, but just didn’t get the chance to cut loose.

Alfieri – Brilliant in the field and busy throughout the entire innings. But his batting was the real pinnacle of his afternoons work. Fully focussed and occupied the crease with determination and an accomplished look. Hit the shot of the day with a cover drive that went all the way to the rope along the floor.

G.Cox – Bowled well and took a nice catch, but his batting only lasted 2 balls which was a massive disappointment to Rosaneri fans.

Mitchell – This man bowled like a machine set to aggressive and he ripped his way through the Church Langley top order. While I was making my notes for these profiles on Sunday night I got into a programme about Star Wars and couldn’t help but see a similarity between Jimmy and Boba Fett. For those of you not up on your Star Wars knowledge, please read the following description of Boba and make your own comparisons. A faceless enforcer, Boba Fett's distinctive look strikes fear in the hearts of fugitives. He is a legendary bounty hunter, accepting warrants from both the Empire and the criminal underworld. He is all business and above all deadly.

Downing – Got the ball to turn and every shot the batsmen played seemed to end up in the air. Knew his luck was not in when he hit the stump and the bails didn’t fall off ! Got in when batting, but played a criminal shot to effectively end Rosaneri’s hopes.

Ma.Freeman – Returned top figures with the ball as usual, and got left stranded with the bat. Did make a very uncharacteristic fielding mistake though to give away four.

S.Underwood – Put an amazing 3 for 3 in the book while in the process of a demonstration in line and length bowling. However, the batting may cost him a few man of the match votes.

Tyrrell – Took a nasty injury on the little finger of his right hand early on and had to hand the gloves over. Bravely came out to bat one handed, but there was no fairy tale ending.
