Player notebooks

Tyrrell – Not in the greatest of form with the bat, but you can’t argue against the man’s bottle as he has continued to open the batting. Kept wicket very well, but didn’t get a snifter of a chance.

M.Cox – Didn’t get chance to play himself in before a very good bowler snaffled his wicket. Fielded with constant enthusiasm and wasn’t one who gave up.

Leigh – This was probably one of Shell’s finest innings for the club. It certainly wasn’t his highest score, but he was harder to pass than a brick wall for the bowlers. Then he accelerated at the right time to give the team an air of respectability with the bat.

A.Underwood – Blasted himself back to form with a tidy yet aggressive knock of 38. Really took on the quicks and soon got on top as the runs flowed effortlessly. However, demonstrated a poor attitude in the field when he refused to chase a ball that stopped just short of the rope.

Alfieri – Totally out of form, and his innings ended before it got started. It isn’t from lack of practice or desire to get it right. He simply needs a lucky break.

Downing – Got himself in and looked set to kick on and get the Rosaneri innings back on track. But totally selected the wrong shot to a quicker one from the spin wizard and was dispatched back to the hutch. Bowled economically in a short spell without getting a wicket.

G.Cox – A quick 11 with the bat, but as usual got out too quickly. Bowled a lively opening spell and grabbed the vital opening wicket.

N.Shewring – Batted in an unfamiliar style of being patient and it worked to great effect. Looked solid and still scored runs quickly by hitting the bad balls. First 2 overs were beauties, but the last one went for surprising runs.

Rose – Had a poor game, which may have had something to do with the fact that Spurs were on the box ! Although did manage to snare a wicket.

S.Shewring – Batted in his usual fashion, but came unstuck early. Opened the bowling from the railway end and performed exactly to the Captains orders by bowling on the stumps. Picked up two wickets and it could of easily been four.

Shuttlewood – First game back after a long lay off and decided to focus on Captaincy. Did a great job directing team affairs with good communication, and nearly grabbed a wicket with his first ball back after his break.
