Pinks get the winning habit back

Rosaneri finally got back to winning ways with a thoroughly professional all round team display. The mood was positive from the very first ball and the Pinks played hard to virtually stay in control throughout.

The Edmonton Teachers got off to a fast start and put 34 on the board before they lost their first wicket. Marcus made the breakthrough, just as the momentum had started swing to the teachers. But from this point, Rosaneri bowled beautifully and established a tight grip on the game.

The fielding was excellent and particular mention must go to Bonehead who was simply outstanding. Mr Bell kept wicket immaculately, which was reflected in the extras column.

The bowling was excellent, but a special note must be made about Gareth’s top opening spell, Jim’s tight 2 for 11, Mat’s mega tight effort, and Ben Underwood’s cameo 2 over stint. Nick also bowled very well, but his actual figures may be did not fully reflect this. Bowling the last over against a set daddy batsmen obviously dented a good set of numbers.

The batting could not have got off to a better start with Slaps and Robsie adding runs very quickly and in the process creating a new club record opening partnership of 65.

Robsie shocked many Rosaneri fans with a completely new style of aggressive hitting to also record a personal best of 26 for the club. Slaps was eventually run out and unfortunately Robsie followed soon after.

Mr Bell and Bonehead kept the scoreboard moving and both looked good during a tricky few overs. Levsy strode out for his club debut and batted superbly to anchor the innings while wickets tumbled around him.

Captain Robsie remained super cool, but most other Rosaneri players did not enjoy the tense last 5 overs. Eventually it boiled down to Rosaneri needing 10 from the last over to win. This task was made all the easier when the oppo death bowler got the yips and bowled 5 wides. In fact, the winning run off the last ball was actually a wide.

This was a great team effort and some great fielding and tight bowling ultimately set up a well deserved victory. Robsie captained superbly and this result may well launch a good run of form.

With 2 games this weekend there will be no player notebooks.
