Player notebook

Tilley – Took 2 catches, but did make one schoolboy ground fielding error. Made a rare bowling appearance and then batted in a steady and reassured fashion to ensure that Rosaneri had a real chance of getting near Farnham’s total. Accumulated 86 effortless runs before getting caught.

Jones – Opened the batting and looked very comfortable until snicking one to the keeper. This is a role that Adam can develop as he has been known as an opening bat in the past.

Leigh – Back to his aggressive best and not only timed the ball, but also smashed it hard to the boundary with authority. In this form against a lesser bowling attack he could easily have gone on to big total.

McHugh – Came in to save the day and kept wicket well in difficult conditions. Unfortunately got a first baller which must have taken the gloss off a great day.

Downing – Lightly bowled again, but did bowl well at a difficult stage of the game. Took 3 catches at mid off and batted with luck on his side to record a defiant 31 on a pitch where he seems to be at home.

A.Underwood – Got thrown the ball to open the bowling in all the chaos of late arrivals. Actually bowled well, but was brutally slaughtered by class batsmen on a mission. Batted very well and looked set for a big innings when mistiming a shot to mid wicket.

Rose – Captained well in very difficult circumstances, but did make some unique bowling decisions including not bowling himself. His batting in this match is best forgotten and got as close to a fresh air game as you possibly can without actually having one !

G.Cox – Bowled exceptionally well and managed to totally eliminate the no ball. Took 3 wickets and would have returned sensational figures apart from being given the tap in his final over. Batted in his usual style with runs coming quickly, but his time was up too quickly again.

B.Underwood – Was the real surprise bowling choice and took his chance well by bowling a consistent line and length. Also looked comfortable with a new position in the batting order and ended up unbeaten.

S.Underwood – Was also a victim of the opening onslaught, but as usual kept the ball in the right places and did pick up a couple of deserved wickets. Came out firing with the bat and added vital runs to the total.

Sindrey – Arrived outrageously late but did bowl really well when he finally got on the pitch. Mixed up his pace and length to make the batsmen look uncomfortable in a great first spell. Came in with big runs being needed quickly and walked back to the hutch with a golden duck.
