The Farnham festival of runs

Wow, what a game !

Rosaneri couldn’t have taken to the field in a worse state after Marcus lost the toss and was asked to field. The club’s two opening bowlers were still driving around the Hertfordshire/Essex borders and we looked a complete shambles.

Farnham did not make any allowances and certainly showed no mercy as the run rate hit 9 per over as quickly as the 4th over. The onslaught was frightening and having two fielders missing did not help.

Gareth eventually got onto the pitch in the 5th over and Sindrey scampered into action in the 10th.

With Gareth’s arrival the team clearly settled and a crucial breakthrough came courtesy of Jim hanging onto a miscued skier at mid off. The very next ball saw the 2nd wicket tumble and the Pinks were back in the game.

Sinders when he finally arrived to be fair did bowl very well and certainly asked questions of quality batsmen.

The spirit remained high and it was undeserved that Gareth and Sinders went for 30+ between them in the last 2 overs to add to an already massive total.

A magnificent tea was enjoyed by the bowlers in particular and the scene was set for an heroic run chase attempt.

Tills and Adam got things off to a great start by adding a quick 32 for the opening wicket. Shell then came in and continued the good work and Rosaneri were on top of the run chase.

Tills led with style rather than aggression and worked his way to a fine 86 before getting caught. As he departed the Pinks had the bit between their teeth and the belief was clearly there.

Jim opened up and smashed a couple of big 6’s, rode his luck and eventually left the crease with Rosaneri in with a chance. Bloater looked set to kick on and win it before getting caught. The tail again got stuck in and added runs, but the total gradually got out of range.

This was a great effort and a great game of cricket against a very smart opposition.
