The setting was perfect, the weather was perfect, but the result was certainly not.
The momentum of the game swung constantly throughout proceedings and there were some notable turning points.
The batting got off to a slow and steady start, but wickets were falling and the scoreboard was not exactly racing. Ian got his head down and carried the fight, and the tail really wagged to get us to a solid total.
At tea Rosaneri were firmly in control and definitely had the upper hand.
The Rosaneri fielding on the whole was excellent, but there were occasional lapses that in the end cost us dearly. Unfortunately it also has to be reported that extras totalled 28 which in a 40 over contest is a touch too high.
The bowling was also very good and the pace guys had the ball performing tricks, but the crucial wickets would not tumble.
Nick bowled a very tidy spell as the only spinner to be used for the away team and deservedly got 2 wickets.
The Pinks ground fielding at times was breathtaking and 2 run outs were the team trophy of such good work.
The game continued to ebb and flow throughout the home sides innings and ultimately it boiled down to an old fashion nerves contest. Stephen Underwood had bowled beautifully until a disastrous last over that firmly swung the pendulum back in The Cotswolds favour.
Paul Sindrey was thrown the ball for the death over with the home team needing 6 to win. The first 3 balls yielded 3 runs and the 4th ball of the over was cross batted for 4 to secure victory. Paul held his nerve, but unfortunately so did their batsmen to secure victory.
