A two horse race - but only one winner

Well, inevitably with such a large number of runs scored & a relative poor performance with the ball, this week’s man of the match was very much about the batting performance.

As such it was a two horse race between Slap’s measured & mature oh-so-near 92 and Steve Shewring’s shock & awe exhibition of big hitting 61 not out, with his efforts with the ball in the mix to make the final result a close run thing.

Ultimately it was Slap’s strong foundation-like innings, his ability to weather the storm of hostile quick bowling and bide his time until he could play more expansively, such as the two delightful lofted drives he played back over the bowler’s head for 4, which secured the deciding votes for the man of the match award.

Below are some of the comments from the voters:

Man of the Match goes to Slaps for a solid innings at the top of the order and was unlucky not to reach 3 figures.

My MOM vote goes to Steve Shewring - for:

A swashbuckling 62 not out from a tail ender, giving us a decent total to bowl with

A decent performance with the ball, given that we were being whacked all over the place, and a decent recovery after a slightly uneconomical first over!

Slaps wins a matching set of Adidas shower products.
