Pressure's on for the Edmonton game

Today sees Rosaneri go head to head with a very experienced Edmonton side on the back of three consecutive defeats.

Those that played last year will remember the wonderful century by Andy Underwood and the unbeaten 50 by Jim which contributed to Rosaneri posting a season best total of 232. They will also remember the relative ease in which Edmonton managed to chase down the total in a little over 30 overs.

Mindful of this bowlers will need to be circumspect in their bowling, keeping their line tight & the extras to a minimum. The bowling attack looks to be seam heavy, what with Jim & Nick away but Slap’s metronomic legspin will no doubt prove pivotal in the final analysis.

Batsmen should relish the opportunity to make a big score on a pitch where the boundary is close all around. A chance for Rosaneri’s big guns to fire with both barrels and everyone to have a sniff at posting a season best score, not least Jimmy Mitchell who is making his debut for the Pinks who will hopefully make as big an impact as fellow 2008 season debutant Adam Jones.

Tight fielding will be particularly important not only to keep boundaries to a minimum on a small pitch but also to help the bowlers keep the pressure on the batsmen and force them to go for risky big hits. As ever, holding our catches will prove decisive.

The format of the game is likely to be 40 overs again like last year, which will mean an exciting run chase for the team batting second. Winning the toss could prove pivotal to captain Slaps’ gameplan.

Full text updates will be available, and a summary match report will appear online as soon as possible.
