Batting had to win on a batting dream of a wicket

This week’s man of the match proved to be somewhat of a formality in the end.

There were a number of top bowling performances in very difficult circumstances from Stephen Underwood, Steve Shewring, Graham Sparrey and Adam Jones, bur realistically on that pitch it had to be a batsman.

So the votes were counted and the clear winner was Jim Downing for his dominant 63. The innings was made at good pace and he always looked in control of the bowlers. It was just a shame that nobody else went on to make a score for the game to conclude with a nail biting finale.

The pitch was designed for batsmen so it was entirely fitting that a top batting display picked up the prize.

Jim wins a matching set of Adidas shower products.
