Strong batting could be the key

Today sees Rosaneri go into battle for a second time this season against Botany Bay.

The away leg was a comprehensive victory for Rosaneri, but today’s clash will be a much tighter affair. Botany Bay have announced a strong team for the journey to Lincoln Road, and we must be respectful of the way they thrashed us at Lincoln Road last year.

We have a really strong team on paper and the batting has never stretched so far down the order. Captain Underwood has the tough task of selecting the exact order, but some players could quite justifiable find themselves batting in the top 4 or the bottom 4.

Rosaneri’s bowling options are not quite so clear with a few of the regular options not being around this week. The fast bowling machines Paul Sindrey and Steve Shewring could well get through the lions share of the early action with the main support coming from Sparrey, Downing and two Underwoods. But the wild card must surely be Adam Jones who has so far excelled with the bat, but was always traditionally known for his efforts in the bowling department.

The format of the game will be decided at the toss, but in the past Botany Bay have always expressed a preference for a 40 over contest.

Full text updates will be available, and a summary match report will appear online as soon as possible.
