Tough match on the cards

Today the Pink bus gets on the road to Essex again and comes to a halt in North Weald Village.

This is a new fixture for the club and we are up against the North Weald Saturday 1st XI (mainly because they only run one team on a Saturday and two teams on a Sunday). However, this should mean that they are a strong team as only having to get 11 players out is always easier than getting 22.

The stats on the North Weald website also confirm that we are in for a tough examination. North Weald have played 7, won 5, drawn 1, and lost 1. Some of their victories have been very impressive with the scorecards demonstrating good bowling and good batting.

Sheridan steps up to take the Captains armband and Mat Freeman will act as his vice captain. This gives the team a very experienced backbone and hopefully a good launch pad for us to get back to winning ways.

Adam Jones comes into the team for his 2nd game for the club after that sensational innings on debut against Tendring. In that kind of form, more runs will surely follow.

The batting does look particularly strong with our now established opening pair of Coxy and Bell to be relied upon to get us off to a good start.

The skipper has lots of bowling options at his disposal, but the three pronged pace attack of Freeman, Sindrey and Gareth Cox looks particularly appealing.

The quiet assassin Marcus could be the one to watch though as he has slipped into a nice vein of form and has been returning a steady return of wickets.

We must compete as hard as we can, but we must also be mindful of maintaining our high standards of conduct both on and off the field.
