Tendring toppled

Rosaneri put in a thoroughly professional display against a solid club side to pull off another famous victory.

Captain Shuttlewood won the toss and confidently elected to bat. The Pinks got off to a steady start and it was Mark Cox who provided the energy to get the total up to 36 before the first wicket fell.

Then followed a steady tumble of wickets with runs proving hard to come by. After 26 overs Rosaneri were in a poor position at 67 for 6. But at this point the whole momentum of the game changed as Adam and Jim began what turned out to be a match winning partnership.

Adam rolled back the years and looked elegant and classy to add 87 with Jim for the 7th wicket. Adam eventually fell for 57 on a brilliant debut innings for the club. Jim changed his style completely to smash an aggressive 42 as Rosaneri kicked on to record a very impressive 169 after the slow start.

Tendring raced out of the traps and after 5 overs they had 30 runs on the board. However, Paul Sindrey and Gareth Cox took 3 wickets between them to leave the game on a knifes edge.

However Captain Shuttlewood pulled a masterstroke by introducing Stephen Underwood to the attack to change the run rate completely. Stephen bowled like scrooge to effectively win the game for Rosaneri.

Tendring kept battling and a late rally just run out of steam as Rosaneri held their catches to tidy up all 10 wickets with the last ball of the game.

A great win, but more importantly a great day out. The pre match pub lunch was sensational, and the banter flowed all day.

The star of the day though turned out to be the oppo’s opening batsman. In the bar afterwards it turned out that he was the Tendring Stucks, and the line of the day came when we talking about the cautious start to our innings.

“Well what do you expect opening the batting with Al Murray Pub Landlord.”
