It was a magnificent team effort on Sunday, but here is the break down of the players individual performances:
Tyrrell – Got injured while keeping wicket to a fast Freeman delivery and spent a long time off the field receiving treatment. Got himself together to open the batting and did it in fine style. Finally delivered the promise that he had shown in the nets for years to put a big score on the board. Hopefully this will be the start of a good run of form.
A.Underwood – Took over the wicket keeping to great effect and then got stuck into the batting in the unfamiliar surroundings of opening. Made his usual solid 20+, but never really looked 100%.
M.Cox – Fielded brilliantly and put in his best ever batting display for the club. Grew in confidence with the bat with every ball he faced. Hit some powerful shots to the boundary and looked the real deal.
Alfieri – Looked more comfortable batting at 4 and played some nice shots to return a steady 11 runs. Took two stunning catches in the field to go joint top of the Golden Fielder.
Tona – Fielded well with only one lapse of concentration. Batted in determined fashion when the opposition had their tails up.
Downing- Recovered well from 10 being whacked of his first 2 balls to give the captain good control of the game. Came in to tidy things up at the end with the bat just as doubt was creeping in to Rosaneri minds.
G.Cox – Took an over to get going, but once in gear he bowled beautifully. Returned nice figures with the ball and then produced a brilliant cameo innings to ensure Rosaneri cruised to victory. Like Botham in his pomp, he finished the game with a showboating straight six.
S.Shewring – Bowled with immense control as he did the week before to produce another set of stunning figures. Also captained immaculately to propel Rosaneri to a famous victory.
Freeman- Bowled with ferocious pace on a firm fast bowling friendly surface. Unlucky not to pick up more wickets, and again returned solid figures.
N.Shewring – Bowled one of his best ever spells for the club. Didn’t get the ball to really rip, but he did show utter control by only giving away one wide. Snaffled 2 wickets and on a luckier day could have had 4 or more. Nick must also be praised for thanklessly doing the scoring for the whole of our innings.
Rose – Put in another nice stint with the ball and picked up his now usual wicket. Fielded well and made one spectacular diving stop.
