Sunday saw Rosaneri pull off a famous victory against a Botany Bay 2nd XI.
The tempo was right from the moment Rosaneri took the field, and it was not long before the Pinks had assumed complete control. The opening attack of Gareth Cox and Mat Freeman soon sent the openers back to the hutch and runs were proving hard to come by for the home team.
Wickets fell at steady intervals and Botany Bay never really got to grips with near perfect batting conditions.
The fielding was again sensational with Tony taking two outstanding catches. Numerous runs were saved with all round good team fielding, and the pressure created on the batsmen would have worn down any line up.
Botany Bay managed to creep over the 150 mark, and a gettable run chase was on for Rosaneri.
We couldn’t have got off to a better start with Andy and Gbell putting on 43 for the loss of the first wicket. Mark Cox then confidently went about his business and added 60 with Gbell before the 2nd wicket fell. Unfortunately Mr Bell departed shortly afterwards and Botany Bay sensed light at the end of the tunnel.
Robsie and Tony then steadied the ship and added some useful runs before Jim and Gareth came in to finish matters with the minimum of fuss. Gareth played a magnificent cameo innings to smash 21 including a straight 6 to finish the match.
This was a great win, and it certainly avenged last years double drubbing. The all time score with Botany Bay now stands at 2-2.
We are still unbeaten in 2008, and now head to Essex in great form.
