A big day at the Bay

Today Rosaneri go into battle against one of the top teams in the North London area.

It is the much looked forward to trip to Botany Bay.

This will be the 4th meeting between the clubs, and the score currently stands at 2-1 to the boys from the Bay. Rosaneri powered to victory in 2006, but were comprehensively thrashed by very strong Botany Bay teams in both games last year.

Rosaneri go into the match in top form and are eager to extend the great start to the season. The batting is still to hit top gear, but with a week of dry weather and high temperatures, scores should be significantly higher. Ian grafted last week for a 50 with only one boundary, but on a dry pitch you could have added another 20 or 30 to his score.

Bloater, Jim, Mat and Mr Bell all looked to be in good form with the bat last week and all four need to carry on in the same vein this week if we are to compete with another well established club side.

The fielding and catching last week were both top drawer, and if this is repeated it will certainly go a long way to helping the Pinks to pull off a famous win.

Steve Shewring will Captain Rosaneri, and he will be assisted on the day by Nick Shewring. The Botany Bay 1st XI pitch (where we are playing) will bring back great memories for Steve, as this was the scene of his greatest performance as a Rosaneri bowler.

The match is due to start at 2pm, so players are expected to be at the ground by 1.15pm.

The exact format of the game will be discussed by the captains before the toss.

Text updates can be obtained by alerting a club official to the frequency of your need, and a match summary will be online as soon as possible.
