The scores have all been added and averaged out and the Enfield tea has scored a very impressive 7.18. This rating clearly puts Enfield in amongst the big guns in the tea world, and it seems that all of our squad left the table fully satisfied.
Please find below and extract form the notoriously hard to please food critic Tony Alfieri;
Many thought that I was a little harsh on the Nazeing Common Tea, I rated it 3/10, the overall marks were a lot higher, being fine English gentleman I believe everyone was slightly over courteous with the first tea of the season. Luckily I’m neither fine, English nor a gentleman so I can give an un-biased opinion.
The first things that hit me were the sandwiches, compared to the Nazeing Common DIY SOS disaster, a slice of bread, tub of marg and a packet of Bernard Manning’s wafered ham does not constitute tea. Someone thought, prepared and took care over making these sandwiches. Prawns, cheese, ham, chicken tikka were just some of the variety on show, all cut perfectly into quarters. I don’t think we’ll see a better sandwich spread this season.
The only thing that let this spread down was the ‘No coffee option’, Jim says that no cricket club will offer coffee, I reckon one of the clubs this season will, and that will go down well in my pointing system.
I’m giving this tea 7/10, which is directly related to the amount of times I filled my plate. Bring on the tea that scores the 10, and you’ll have to roll me out to field.
