Faster than a speeding bullet - it's Supaball!

It's been a long seven days but Wednesday is here again and it's back to the nets for Rosaneri. Club officials have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the net sessions provide maximum enjoyment and more importantly an opportunity to develop our skills. This week sees two new introductions - the appointment of a technical coach and the arrival of some new equipment.

Those regular visitors to the nets will no doubt have noticed some deterioration in the surface of the practice balls and a down turn in their performance on the hard floor. As a result the club's procurement officer has scoured the South East and has managed to find a more effective ball - the Readers Supaball.

The Supaball is the top indoor practice ball and has a slightly spongy feel which produces a more realistic bounce off the hard floor. In addition they have a fully stitched seam to give the feel and performance of a real cricket ball as well as the split colour to assist the seamers and spinners.

The soft casing may not provide quite the same feel as a real cricket ball for the batsmen but it is more important to be facing a realistic bounce and getting the bat in the right place so no complaints please!

The existing plastic balls have been decommissioned and seven Supaballs have been purchased so there will be plenty to go around!

The pitch measurements have now been checked and double checked so we can be sure that we will be bowling from the right length this week - it will certainly look too long in the nets but the measure is 66 feet stumps to stumps so once again no complaints please!

Finally, the club has announced the appointment of Mat Freeman as technical coach who will be drawing on 20 years experience as a fast bowler and technical batsman to provide some invaluable tips for the less experienced among us. If you feel your game is technically perfect already please do not take offence if Mat offers criticism or advice!

Bring it on!!
