If the club received £1 for every weather forecast we have looked at between us in the build up to Sunday we would probably be able to buy our own mini bus !

Although the weather on the day is anyone’s guess we must not take our eye off the ball in the final countdown to the season opener. We must prepare as if the game is on.

With that in mind we must plan our travel arrangements for the first away trip of the season. The game is scheduled to start at 2pm, so the meet time at the ground is 1.15pm.

Many of our team are involved with morning football matches and therefore the early meet and travel together was not deemed appropriate.

The ground is very easy to find and is basically on the road from Waltham Abbey to Harlow. The pitch is located virtually opposite The Sun Inn, which is a big country pub on this road. For Sat Nav users the post code is EN9 2DE.

Last season saw impeccable behaviour, but it is worth sending out a reminder as a lot of players are coming off a football season where different standards of behaviour are acceptable.

Our main aim on Sunday is to enjoy the day, uphold the reputation of our club, and to compete with an established club side.
