Excitement building all the time

With just over a week to go before the start of the season, it is time for a quick news round up.

The season opener against Nazeing Common is rapidly approaching and the early team news sees Rosaneri potentially two contracted players down. Pits is unavailable, and Gbell is still recovering from an operation on his leg. This means that the selectors will be getting together to discuss ad hoc replacements before the team is announced by the middle of next week.

The rolling Captaincy programme will also see a Captain and Vice Captain named as early as possible so that they can start plotting a successful start to the campaign. It must be remembered that this will be the first timed match that Rosaneri have ever participated in.

The excitement is building enough already, but this extra element of being able to achieve a draw is something that the new recruits to cricket will soon get to love. The timed game also gives regular opportunity for tail end batsmen to become heroes and make names for themselves.

The Wednesday night net was a roaring success with 13 squad members turning out to fine tune their skills before the season curtain raiser. Bowling continues to improve in its consistency and the batting is looking very promising indeed. The Net Doctor provided his usual excellent surgery and everyone went home in high spirits.

Although the judge and jury of how ready we are lie in wait on Nazeing Common on Sunday week. As much as you can be having excellent net sessions, the acid test will always be on that finely cut strip of grass in the middle of the park.

Work on the fixture list is still not fully complete and more additions are expected shortly.

Finally, it is the pre season curry tonight as mentioned in yesterday’s article. The whole night will be a great opportunity to get together with the lads and talk about the memories of last season as well as build up the anticipation for this season.

This really is a night not to miss with banter, betting opportunities and curry being served up in equal portions.
