Fingers crossed for some good weather

Who would believe that the 2008 cricket season starts in under a month after this weekends weather ?

Heavy snow at the end of March in London is virtually unheard of.

This sort of weather does not bode well for the first match of the season. Remember last year we opened up at Tendring on a chilly spring day, that was actually 3 weeks later than we are starting this year ! What is the world record for the total number of jumpers one player can wear in the outfield ?

Joking aside, it will not do you any harm to be prepared. Maybe go and get another jumper from the sports shop or even invest in one of these new Lycra vests that seem to be all the rage with professionals.

All this cold, doom and gloom may be on the short term radar, but our friends at The Noisy Drinks Company have paid weather consultants to look at the summer as a whole in terms of their business. The consultant has given the thumbs up for a hot summer and even mentioned phrases like “Record sales”.

For cricketing purposes we may even be lucky enough to get an old fashioned drought to ensure maximum play during the summer months.

We all know the disappointment of losing a match to the weather, so fingers crossed that the consultant knows his stuff.
