I am currently painstakingly working through the score book in preparation for a statistical feature later in the week. The article I am putting together will basically be a new tab that will eventually be added to the website which will contain all club records as an honours board.
The honours board will list all 100’s, all 50’s, and all 5 wicket hauls. It will also list the record partnerships for each wicket.
This article will be a must not miss for all statisticians.
But while trawling through the scorebook I have noticed some very poor entries. Next season we really must make more effort to get it right, as cricket is a game that is all about statistics.
Some really basic things were omitted such as the date for some games, but more importantly there were huge gaps in some of the fall of wickets boxes. This makes partnership stats particularly hard to compile.
In fairness, the last two games of the season were entered perfectly in fine detail.
We now have two or three accomplished scorers, but everyone else must make the effort to become competent in order to do a good job when called upon.
If you are in any doubt how to score properly, please ask someone to help you, as the same old excuses will no longer be tolerated.
