Another new opponent for the club can now be inserted into the 2008 fixture list. The opposition in question are Mayfield CC who are based in Palmers Green.
The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday May the 24th at their ground which is just off Hedge Lane in Palmers Green. Mayfield were established in 1925 and only play friendly cricket.
The game will be timed in its format, and tea will be taken between innings as usual.
From 2007 form lines it appears that our contest will be very evenly matched with Mayfield having played Jack of Diamonds and Edmonton. Against Jack of Diamonds they won one and lost one, which matched our record. They also lost to Edmonton, which again matched our effort. The Edmonton match was particularly interesting as Edmonton wracked up 300+, with Mayfield limping in with 140.
This particular contest has the potential to be one of the most competitive games of the season. It also seems that Mayfield play with the same spirit as ourselves, so a polite day out seems assured.
