Here we go again!

It's back to the nets tonight for the Rossers and another opportunity to blow away the winter cobwebs and start finding the form we left behind last September. Last week was a mixed bag in terms of the quality of the bowling as people started to warm up muscles that have lay dormant for many weeks - no doubt there were a few aching shoulders last thursday!

This week the pinks travel to yet another new location - Ashmole school in Southgate. The school sports centre has recently been modernised thanks to a generous lottery grant and the dedicated cricket facilities sound like they could be just the ticket to fill the gap while we await access to the Sawbridgeworth centre. The school is close to Southgate Tube station - for Sat Nav the postcode is N14 5RJ.

Two lanes have been booked so the overcrowding we experienced last week will not be an issue which should also help the bowlers to maintain some consistency and batsmen will hopefully get the chance to face a good few deliveries.

The season will soon roll around and we all want to hit the ground running so there's no time to lose. Bowlers need to get those stock deliveries hitting the spot every time and batsmen need to concentrate on staying at the crease. Smashing the ball around in the nets is useless if you get skittled first ball when you take to the crease on matchday - as I found out last season!
