Season opener confirmed
The opening fixture of the 2008 season has now been confirmed with an away trip to an idealic village green location.
Nazeing Common 2nd XI are the opponents on Sunday the 20th of April.
Cricket has been played on Nazeing Common since 1883, and it is quite a coup for a newly formed club such as ourselves to get into their fixture list.
Getting an April date in the fixture list at this stage of the close season is a major boost, and gives us all something to set our sights on as the big start date.
The match will start at 2pm and will take the back in vogue format of a timed game. Timed games seem to be all the rage for 2008, so it is clearly something we will have to adapt to. One thing for sure is that the timed game puts much more pressure on the Captain. The extra element to a timed game is is the possibility of a draw.
More fixture news will follow later this week as the list really begins to take shape.
