Wasn’t there a film when a bloke was transformed into a child, and he went round on a big adventure enjoying childhood all over again ?
Well I think I may have wondered into the sequel without realising it.
I am enjoying cricket now with the same excitement and obsession as I did when I was a child with nothing else in the world to worry about except my next match. Things have got so bad, that I subscribe to a cricket magazine and eagerly await the next edition dropping through my letterbox every month !
When I drive my car to work, my mind works overtime considering improvements to my shot making while batting, or variations to my bowling to extract a wicket when needed. I have even completed the journey contemplating how I would never drop a catch again.
When I meet team mates, all I want to do is talk about cricket. When my phone rings and it says, “Shell mob”, my heart beat steps up with anticipation of another fix of cricket banter. It is not natural, and I may be bordering on becoming obsessive, but I love it.
I have prepared a Christmas wish list and already I am bursting with excitement to unwrap my cricket related presents on Christmas Day.
I really hope that my cricket bubble does not burst, and that we can welcome in the New Year with a collective excitement of the 2008 season getting ever closer.
