A new and exciting match for 2008 is the latest fixture to be confirmed for the ever expanding list.
This latest match to be confirmed is against North Weald Village and will be played on Saturday the 14th of June. North Weald are a classic village team who play their matches in rural surroundings on the Essex and Hertfordshire borders.
This will be another great away day for the club which will give us the opportunity to pick out wits against an established club team and enjoy a day out in great surroundings. Interestingly, North Weald have requested that the match is played in a timed format.
A timed game will be a completely new departure for Rosaneri CC. The timed match is the most traditional form of the game, and has been enjoyed on village greens across the nation for hundreds of years. Basically the team who bat first can bat as long as they want or until they are all out. The team batting second have the remainder of the time left to get the runs or avoid being bowled out. In this form of the game, it is possible to achieve a draw. In fact, a draw is quite a common result.
The timed game became unfashionable with the advent of limited overs cricket, but maybe next season will see it move back into the spotlight !
