Battles of procurement.....by John Shuttlewood

A tense stand off between a local government officer and the clubs procurement officer ensued in council offices the other morning, as fierce negotiations brought work to a standstill.

A colleague of the clubs procurement officer acted as a fence for an undisclosed third party and was undoubtedly on a commission considering the intensity of the negotiations. With the two parties eyeball to eyeball in front of a packed crowd of other lazy local government employees, a stalemate ensued and a fair price was agreed for a retro cricket bag full of your favourite game goodies. Then everybody involved went for a tea break in the canteen.

Due to the partial private financing of the bid, the astonishing well aged retro Gunn & Moore bag will not become part of the club stock and has been housed by a private collector.

However, the gear inside the bag is now under the communal ownership of the club and the club is considering inviting offers on individual parts. Money is tight and coffers are bare so funds need to be raised in order to finance future club costs. For example, a weekend away in Holland to play a club side and cheer our brothers orange during euro 2008.

The new bag consists of the following: -

XXL (46) ‘Bryan’ branded jumper.
Never been worn, brand new. Without tags. Would look good on a wicket keeper.

Mitre Spiked cricket shoes size 10/11.
Used but good enough to use next season. And the season after.

Duncan Fearnley Pads.
Very good condition. Stand out from the crowd with the aussie style green backing. So good, Jim wants them.

Kookaburra Super Blade bat.
This dates pre-google as a search provided 0 results. It is without a doubt a top range bat of its day and still in good nick having been fully protected. No signs of cracking on toe of bat. So good, Tilley wants it.

Jockstrap.
Used and unwashed. K Mul has expressed an interest.

There are also Duncan Fearnley white trousers sizes 35/36 & 39/40 with an old skool style ‘Garfunkel’ shirt, that will be remain ring fenced as communal club property. Look like Garfunkel, bowl like Garkfunkel.

If you would like to bid for any of the available items above, please email admin@rosanericricket.co.uk . Any items unsold will be added to the club bag.
