Mark Cox

These reports are designed so that the player in question can look at their season in terms of figures. Sometimes bar room chat and banter can hide the truth behind what individuals are achieving.

Today we take a look at Mark Cox.

Batting 2007:

Scores: 0, 2, 11, 0, 2, 7, 12, 15, 7, 0, 0

50’s: 0

100’s: 0

Total runs: 56

Average: 5.18

4’s: 3

6’s: 0

Mode of dismissal:

Caught, Bowled, Caught, Caught, Bowled, Stumped, Caught, Caught, Bowled, Bowled, Stumped

Mark dedicated himself to improve his all round game in the summer nets, and the fruits of his work were shown particularly in his batting. Although his mid season scores on paper only improved slightly the visible change in his confidence and the look of his batting changed dramatically.

The big innings for Mark came against Harlow when he looked really comfortable against steady club bowlers. A big score looked on the cards until he edged a vicious lifter from just short of a length to slip.

Next season will see Mark looking to average double figures.

Bowling 2007:

2-0-10-0

0.4-0-5-0

2-1-8-0

5-0-9-1

3-0-16-2

1-0-8-0

Total for season: 13.4-1-56-3

Average: 18.66

Economy: 4.18

Method of dismissal:

Bowled, Bowled, Caught

Mark did not get to bowl as much as he would probably have liked, but when he did get to bowl he gave it his all. He bowled particularly well against Harlow in his longest spell of the season and picked up a nice brace of wickets against The Queens Head.

The missing factor is confidence and belief. If Mark can build up his consistency during the winter net programme he could emerge next season as a very handy bowling option for the captain.

Summary:

Mark is dedicated to his cricket and hardly misses a game. His fielding is brave and energetic which helps to save numerous runs.

Next season is a massive one for Mark as he needs to move up to the next level from novice to handy club all rounder. Experience is vital and that is building with every game that he plays in. But the key element will be to keep the practice up, and keep focused on achieving as much as he can for the club out in the middle.
