Tony Alfieri

These reports are designed so that the player in question can look at their season in terms of figures. Sometimes bar room chat and banter can hide the truth behind what individuals are achieving.

Today we turn our attention to Tony Alfieri.

Tony is a specialist batsman who enjoys the shorter format of the game.

Batting 2007:

Scores: 23, 0, 3, 3, 3, 7, 16, 0, 4

50’s: 0

100’s: 0

Total runs: 59

Average: 6.55

4’s: 6

6’s: 0

Mode of dismissal:

Caught, Caught, Caught, Bowled, Bowled, Bowled, Bowled, Bowled, Bowled

Tony was bowled in 6 of his 9 innings which could indicate that he needs to be more careful in his shot selection and practice his forward defensive stroke.

Bowling 2007:

None

Summary:

Tony had a very good first full season considering he has never played cricket before. He is more than capable of scoring runs quickly when he gets his eye in, but he does appear vulnerable to straight consistent bowling.

The highlight of Tony’s season was in his first game when he smashed a defiant 23 against Edmonton County Teachers after his opening partner Graham Sparrey had been dismissed in the very first over. Sparrey’s dismissal rocked Rosaneri, but Tony carried the fight with some blistering attacking shots.

Tony has been thrown in at the deep end on many occasions this season as he had to open in numerous games against decent club bowlers.

Winter nets will be vital if Tony is to kick on next season and return a season long average in double figures. To average over 10 for the season would mark significant progress and would certainly help the team build bigger totals. Luck will even itself out during the course of a season, but commitment to nets will improve technique and build confidence.
