Big decisions this week

This is a big week of decisions for the club. We have to decide on such issues as nets, end of season presentation meal, and our end of season meeting.

Nets are the most important issue to resolve in the short term, and the first question must be, should we have a wind down net this Wednesday? If we do have a net this week just to finish the 2007 playing season we will probably call it a day for this season after this event.

This then leads us on to the next question. When do we start winter nets in preparation for the 2008 season? Traditionally winter nets start the week after Christmas, but we may have to start earlier to make sure we get booked in. Linked to this question is the subject of where we stage winter nets? My suggestion would be that we concentrate on Hatfield, but I am open to suggestions.

The end of season meal and presentation is slightly more straight forward and we merely have to agree on a venue and a date. The basic list of options contains all the usual suspects such as Chinese, Indian, Italian or a traditional English Carvery. The Golden Fielder Trophy will be presented, and we must also decide if we are to have any other awards? (e.g Best catch, Best batsman etc) I would suggest that we have a few categories and then have 3 or 4 nominations in each before the players vote and decide.

The long term planning of the club is vital and that is why we must hold an end of season meeting. All types of issues will be discussed, like how things went in 2007, how we can improve in 2008, and next year’s fixture list. The question here is how long do we want to leave it before having the meeting? Should it be in October, or should we wait until November?

On all the above topics, the club are keen to hear your views. Please email any thoughts you have to admin@rosanericricket.co.uk . Everyone’s views are important, even if you only wish to comment on one particular issue.
