Every man that walks out onto the famous turf at Lincoln Road must be ready to puff his chest out and battle for the pride of Rosaneri Cricket Club. Botany Bay have taken the two match rubber very seriously indeed and according to their website are fielding a more or less unchanged team from last week.
In fact, their website makes very interesting reading as it gives last weeks result as a victory for their 1st XI ! This just highlights the fact that we must be “up for it”.
We bowled and fielded superbly last week and a repeat of this will put us in a very nice position to level the rubber.
This week the batting is potentially stronger with the return of Sheridan Leigh and the inclusion of the talented all rounder Stephen Underwood.
In the build up to this game five of the starting line up managed to attend nets, which is a brilliant effort and shows the determination in the squad to level the rubber.
The build up has also seen Coxy handed the “Family bat” from his father in law, with the message to ”Get some runs”. This could be just the boost that Coxy needs to turn all his promise into a match winning contribution.
Batting must improve this week, as too many batsmen got out last week to poor shot selection. As a basic rule, batsman should be conscious of defending good balls and then attacking the bad balls. Above all, we must focus on batting our full 40 overs.
