All the latest

It is time to round up another fabulous week in the history of Rosaneri Cricket Club.

The Edmonton match on Sunday was a classic and a great day out was had by all. The feeling at tea was that we were a brilliant team that were untouchable. Then 30 overs later we were brought crashing down to earth ! But that is why cricket is such a thrilling game.

Talking of tea, it must be noted that the Edmonton tea was unique in as much as it was of average quality when we first sat down. But then a secret chamber opened and a lavish banquet lay behind the door to which we were invited to tuck in. The real pinnacle of a wonderful tea was the choc ices that were handed round while we all rested bursting stomachs. A nice and interesting touch.

Obviously congratulations need to be passed on to Andy for his brilliant maiden hundred for the club and to Jim for his maiden half century for the club. Both achievements show the progress we have made in a year, as this time last year we were licking our wounds after two crushing defeats in The Cotswolds. Now we are celebrating individual batsmen getting a ton rather than the team !

On the fixture front we are almost certain of having a match on Saturday the 22nd of September against Botany Bay at Lincoln Road. We are just waiting for confirmation of the pitch before the date is added to the list. Once confirmed we will be in a position of playing a two match series against Botany Bay in the space of a week.

The inside word on Botany Bay is that they are taking us a lot more seriously this year after our smash and grab victory last year, and they are likely to include a core of 2nd XI players rather than 3rd XI players.
