Edmonton CC

The build up for Sunday’s match is well under way, and the selectors are due to announce the team in the very near future.

Sunday’s game is a massive match and gives Rosaneri a real chance to judge how far they have come this season. Our opponents Edmonton cricket club are a very well established organisation and field 5 teams on a Saturday which highlights their strength in depth.

Not only will the players be of the highest standard, but we can also expect the pitch to be of the highest standard. This is because Edmonton employ 2 full time groundsmen. This is virtually unheard of in amateur cricketing circles as most teams are lucky to have one part time groundsman.

This particular match also holds great significance for 3 of our players. Namely, Shell, Mat, and G.Bell who all had their first cricketing experiences at Edmonton Cricket Club as children.

The pinks are in fine form at the moment with both bat and ball, but the area of real satisfaction has been the recent massive improvement in the fielding. Ground fielding has been neat and tidy with the backing up of throws being exceptional. We have also started to see catches being held with ease, rather than the fielder spilling the chance as a matter of routine.

Edmonton will make us fight all the way on Sunday, so we must prepare ourselves both mentally and physically. If we show the same spirit as we have in recent contests we will certainly compete, even if we don’t manage to pull off another famous victory.
