In this weeks news round up we mainly concentrate on fixture news.
The news we were all dreading is that this year’s trip to The Cotswolds is simply not possible. A pitch was not available to stage this year’s event, and we must now wait until next season. The organisers had considered a Friday match, but the home team could not guarantee a full team to be available.
Another match that was lost to rain has also failed to be rearranged. The match in question was the trip to Walthamstow. Again, the main reason was a lack of a pitch being available with other fixtures already being booked on the pitch.
In positive fixture news though the club are trying to arrange a new fixture against Old Ignations. The match is likely to be at the end of August or the early part of September. The Old Ignations team are a classic mix of experienced cricketers and newcomers to the game. They will offer a stern test, and news will be published online as soon as anything further develops.
Away from fixture news and the club are pleased to confirm that a new order of club caps has been raised. Delivery is expected shortly, and all newly capped players will be awarded their caps as soon as possible.
The build up to Sunday’s match is well underway and The Selectors hope to be in a position to name the team by Thursday or Friday. Squad players who played in The Invitational Match on Friday have had the chance to acclimatise to the playing conditions as this weeks match will be played on the same ground.
