This friday sees a trip to Hoddesdon for a special Rosaneri invitational XI - the annual game against the Portsmouth University boys.
The historical fixture sees a celebrity Rosaneri team playing against the clubs oldest rivals from Pompey. It should be a great day for players and supporters alike as the beer will be flowing well after the last ball has been bowled. The game will take the form of a double 20-20 with theme tunes for batsmen so it should be a great spectacle!
"Old Pomponian" Robsy will of course be captain on the day and the historical nature of the fixture means that the team will be an invitational eleven hand selected by him from the group of Rossers that have featured in the previous encounters. The team has been carefully selected to ensure a competetive match and lines up as:
Robsy (c)
Nick
Jim
Marcus
Tony
Nath
G Bell
Shell
Pits
Slaps
Bones
The fixture forms the bedrock of the Rosaneri Cricket scene and could one day become as famous as the boat race! Rosaneri are currently playing catch up as they trail by one in the ongoing series so a win is vital to get back on terms.
The game will be played at Hoddesdon Cricket Club and it due to start at 2.00pm - everyone is welcome and hopefully we will have another great day of banter, beer and cricket.
A full report on the days events will be posted as soon as the dust has settled!
