Where were all the Hatfield supporters

The Wednesday night net was a let down and a success all in one night.

The let down was the fact that only 4 players turned up. This particularly upset club officials as the club survey revealed that a large number of players wanted a 9pm start at Hatfield. To make matters even worse, the 4 that did turn up were Hoddesdon regulars.

The success was the fact that the players who attended had the use of brilliant facilities and the standard of cricket was exceptional. Each player that pulled the pads on got a thorough examination from the bowlers and an intense and beneficial session was had by all.

The moment of the night was a Malcolm Marshall like Graham delivery that lifted sharply from just short of a length that made Jim look like an English batsman facing the “Little king” of fast bowling at Sabina Park.

For the record the attendees were Nick, Jim, Mat, and Kiwi Graham.

Next week will see the second week of the Hatfield summer trial. Those who wish for this to become a regular location should free their diary for next Wednesday at 9pm.
