The two big road trips

The big match on Sunday looks much more likely to go ahead than it did this time last week. Reports from The Cotswolds have indicated that the pitch has now dried out and the scene seems set for a classic day of cricket.

However, advanced weather forecasts still leave the fixture in some doubt. The early part of the week seems set for rain, but at the moment things seem likely to clear up for the weekend. The question is, how much more water can the pitch take even if it does dry up for Sunday ?

Our team arrangements are still far from clear, partly due to Jackal’s barbecue fiasco and partly due to the doubts as to whether we hire a mini bus or not.

Whatever mode of transport we use, we will be looking at a very early meet time. It is proposed that the meet time could be as early as 7.30am. The format of the day’s cricket action is likely to be 2 innings per side of 25 overs. This will mean that proceedings will have to get under way at about 12pm. Of course this is all very flexible depending on our journey to the ground.

More news will follow later in the week.

On other fixture news, it should be noted that the summers other big road trip is not as far away as some may have feared. In fact, the ground for the match against Ockbrook and Borrowash is actually 40 miles closer that the Cotswolds fixture. And according to Google maps the estimated journey time is only 2 hours and 3 minutes.
