Well please note Mr Editor you need to make room for a new one in the shape of a day out at Great Waltham with the Rosaneri!
What a day it was.
The mix of banter and cricket brilliance in the RCC team was always going to make for a great day out and it certainly did. Maybe this is where Roy Hodgson is going wrong with the England team. Just picking the best players is never going to work and nor is just picking the banter kings, but throw in a Ray Parlour and Jimmy Bullard with a Frankie Lampard and a Jack Wilshere and you may just have the dream dressing room?!
Rosaneri started well, but the Great Waltham openers were quality and they soon got on top. Slaps made the breakthrough though and as their top gun pushed on the RCC bowlers chipped away at the other end.
The crossroads of hard or impossible chase came when the Fonz pouched a brilliant catch in the deep to dismiss The Daddy. The Rosaneri bowlers then tidied up quickly and dismissed the home side for 231.
Arthur and Ian started the reply in a positive fashion, and Arthur kicked on to deliver his best innings to date for the club. What the fans loved about this innings was the way Arthur mixed solid shots to bad balls with cheeky aggression to good balls to keep the scoreboard moving.
Marcus played well to support Arthur, but both perished and a brilliant quick cameo from Gareth set things up a treat for "The Closers". Both Rahul and Darren batted beautifully, but the Fonz left the final bit of graft to big hitting Jack.
Coxy suffered a proper whack while in the field, but luckily he is now ok.
This was a brilliant all round team display and the dressing room at the end genuinely felt like we had pulled off a good old fashioned FA Cup 3rd round Giant killing.
Top stuff.
