The trial nets at Winchmore Hill school took place on Wednesday evening and proved a roaring success.
Initial fears about the performance of practice balls on the unprotected sports hall surface were soon forgotten and a thoroughly productive and enjoyable session ensued. Attendance was encouraging on a night that shared the occassion with the second leg of the Carling Cup Semi Final - 7 attended in all, Jim, Tony Trucker, Nick, Mat Freeman, Sheridan, John Shuttlewood and Andy Underwood.
It took a short while to get in the swing of things and get equipment sorted but things were soon running smoothly.
In the end a relentless hour and a half session saw 7 people leave with sore arms but a thirst for winter cricket quenched. Thirsts of a different kind were not quenched and it is highly recommended that anyone attending future nets brings some liquid refreshment as the temperature soon rises - shorts and t-shirts are recommended.
Those players who will be committing to prepaid sessions should get their £50 payments to Jim as soon as possible as the booking will be made permanent following the success of the trial.
