Vs Aldenham

This was one of those great Rosaneri journeys into the unknown, and it turned out to be a classic.

The weather was ridiculously hot and we got off to a good start by winning the toss and electing to have a bat. This call was brought into question though before a ball was even bowled when eagle eyed RCC fans spotted the opening bowler marking his run up start from level with the sightscreen!

What followed was like a flashback to the 80's in Barbados as the batsman underwent a proper going over! But in a genuine cricket way, rather than the way of one our previous opponents who Mr Bell wrote a letter to. It was a great spectacle for the crowd and Mike looked more at home than he would at a Stats conference.

Slaps was hit early on and then departed to set off a proper collapse with Charlie, Marcus and Cuz following cheaply.

When Mike got out for a brilliant 23 the writing was well and truly on the wall and a sub hundred total looked very likely at 39 for 5.

However, a magnificent partnership from the Fonz and Debutant James Sawyer saw the pinks grab a proper foothold in the match.

This was undoubtedly the Fonz at this best as he rode the early storm, suffered a broken rib, and then smashed it to all corners without even a bead of sweat!

Sawyer is a proper gun and looked very very assured in the supporting role to the coolest man in amateur cricket.

The partnership was eventually broken, but Jim and Sinders added late valuable runs to see the pinks to a decent total.

The Rosaneri bowling machine started well with 2 early wickets on the board for only 7 runs.

Aldenham then worked their way back into the game even though the bowling was consistent. The man dangerman though was given 3 lives thanks to dropped catches and went on to record a pink punishing ton.

James, Cuz and Jim all chipped in with crucial wickets and then Jack delivered 3 wickets in the same over to cause the home fans to panic, but in truth it was way too late to pull off victory.

We did not win, but we played hard and probably only regretted not taking one of those 3 missed catches!
