Vs Enfield CC Friendly XI

Well what a day!

We gained our first ever victory against Enfield CC and thenthe President of the MCC and former England captain Mike Gatting umpired aquarter of the game for us!

A youthful Enfield side asked Rosaneri to bat and the Pinkswere soon in trouble at 36 for 4. But gallant batting by Bloater and Coxy pushedthe score towards 100 and then the fireworks really started.

The Fonz and Jack played themselves in and then smashed the Enfield attack to all parts of the ground registering a new RCC 8th wicket partnership record of 104. Jack made a run a ball 36 and The Fonz ended up on a magnificent 89 not out off of only 51 balls as RCC ended up on 221 for 8 off of their allotted 40 overs.

After tea Jack and Stephen opened the bowled and Jack wasparticular impressive by taking one for seven off of his 8 overs.

After 20 overs Enfield were well behind the run rate but hadwickets in hand and as per the game’s first innings the second half of theEnfield reply stepped up a notch.

Mr. Gatting strode out after drinks, to a shout from Coxy of“are we sure he knows the rules” and to the bemusement of Charlie who didn’tknow who Mr. G was! to umpire his son who went on to ravage the Rosaneri attackby hitting an elegant half century.

In the end though the Enfield lower order had too many runsto make up and the Pinks ran out winners by 42 runs.

A big thank you as always goes to Enfield, their SkipperSlaps and of course Mr. Gatting for making it a fantastic day to remember forall participating cricket fans.
