Vs Knebworth
This game was always billed as the last England friendly before heading off to the World Cup Finals and the result on the face of it was disappointing.
However, the bowling and the majority of the fielding was massively positive.
The Knebworth Daddy opener did not even play one defensive stroke and when he smashed Mat for a huge straight six for the 3rd ball of the game the writing literally looked to be on the wall!
There was no panic though, and Paul and Mat bowled lovely spells to limit scoring shots and chip away at wickets.
Jim and Darren then came on really get stuck into the wickets and apply significant pressure on the home team batsmen. When Jim bowled the agrressive opener the momentum was firmly with the Pinks.
But big clubs are big clubs for a reason and Knebworth dug deep to eek out good numbers from their 9, 10, Jack.
Nick made a great return to bowling ranks to snaffle a wicket, but RCC dropped a few catches late on to let Knebworth off the hook.
Arthur kept wicket very well yet again.
The batting is probably best glossed over as it never really got going until the game was dead. The highlights were Cuz and Darren who refused to lie down and had a go at restoring pride with some lusty blows.
Overall though, this was a good work out before the big one next week against the Cotswolds.
